Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1998. The department offers B.Tech(Computer Science and Engineering), B.Tech(Artifical Intelligence), B.Tech(Data Science), M.Tech(Data Science) and Ph.D. in various specializations of the discipline.The backbone of the department is quality research, experienced faculty members and latest infrastructure. B.Tech (CSE) programme of the department is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India first time in 2012 for three years and second time for the academic years 2017-22(5 years).
Students of this department are prepared to excel as competent computer professionals, pursue advanced degrees, and possess technical knowledge, critical thinking skills, creativity and ethical values needed to promote peace, prosperity and growth in society. With a strong technical background, students of our department excel in university results, placements and higher studies every year.

Program Educational Objectives of B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering)
The Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering) program has been offered at BIT, Durg since 1998. To prepare students for professional careers in computing and for advanced study the motto is:
PEO1: To enrich graduate students with core competencies by strengthening their mathematical, scientific, humanistic and engineering fundamentals to solve computational problems and to prepare them for industry and higher education.
PEO2: To develop professional skills and ethical values, teamwork, lifelong learning and adaptability to new technology in students, to serve society at large.
PEO3: To prepare capable students to apply technical computing skills with strong logic for successfully executing software/hardware related projects to meet global customer requirements.
PEO4: To provide facilities and support to students to gain multidisciplinary knowledge through projects, internships, industrial training and entrepreneurial skills leading to a sustainable competitive edge in research and development.

2. B. Tech Computer Science (Specialization: Artificial Intelligence) and (Specialization: Data Science)

PEO 1: Engineering Knowledge: To provide Graduates with core competencies in successful careers in industry, academia and public service, by strengthening their core theoretical and practical knowledge in the domain of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

3. M. Tech. (Data Science)
The M. Tech (Data Science) is a two year program introduced in 2018 with an intake of 18 students. Students are studying different subjects related to data science. Preliminary project work starts in the third semester and the fourth semester is completely allocated for project. The project typically has a strong research component. The course covers important subjects like big data analytics, IOT, predictive analytics, machine learning, high performance computing, next generation databases like MongoDB, data security.
Program Educational Objectives of M.Tech (Data Science)
PEO1: To produce data science engineers who are able to apply knowledge of machine learning, analytics and IOT to evaluate, secure, analyze and synthesize existing and new complex real world problems.
PEO2: To provide sufficient depth in artificial intelligence, data science, professionalism, ethics and experience necessary for successful careers in Data Science and related fields.
PEO3: Students are prepared to pursue research career in advanced areas like big data analytics, Data Security, Machine learning and related areas.
4. Ph. D. (Computer Science and Engineering)
Department is recognized as Research Center For offering PhD program in Computer Science and Engineering by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai. The programme focuses on original research that can lead to publications in premier conferences or journals. Students are required to do some courses in the first semester and then move on completely to research.
Program Educational Objectives of PhD (Computer Science and Engineering)
PEO1: To have an in-depth knowledge of a sub-area of Computer Science and able to publish papers in reputed journals and conferences.
PEO2: Demonstrate their ability to further the frontier of knowledge in at least one sub-area of Computer Science and capable of guiding other researchers and able to acquire sponsored projects for the development of nation.
PEO3: Develop ethics and abilities for effective communication as researchers and educators.
