Department of Applied Physics was conceived in the year 1986 along with the inception of the Institute with an aim to provide scopes to build the foundation stones for higher studies in Engineering and other allied fields.The department offers Ph.D. in various specializations of the discipline.The backbone of the department is quality research, experienced faculty members and latest infrastructure.

Vision

To meet the diverse needs of an international learning community and contribute to society and its economic development through research, excellent teaching and high quality student support.

Mission

To impart quality education to the students and to let them feel that Physics is the father of all Science and Engineering. Provide the best fundamental and applied research results to the scientific and engineering communities to enable the development of Knowledge-based and technology based industries.

Nodal slide assembly, Newton’s Ring  apparatus, Bi-Prism assembly, Telescope, Laser optics lab, Optical Fiber, Photoconductivity Measurement Unit, Spectrometer with imported grating, Michelson Interferometer, Lux Meter, UV&  Helium-Neon laser source, Mercury Lamp ,Monochromatic Sodium Light Source etc.

Spin and dip coating unit for preparation of thin films, Ball Mill apparatus, Centrifuge machine, Electronic Single Pan Balance, Triple Distillation Unit, Ultrasonic Cleaner, Magnetic Rotor, Digital pH Meter & Conductivity Meter, Magnetic Stirrer(With Hot Plate), Muffle furnaces with Digital Temperature controller, UV Double Beam Spectrophotometer(with computer & software), Digital Pico Ammeter, Digital Nano Ammeter, Photoluminescence study kit, Mechano luminescence study kit, storage oscilloscope, Optical filters, Resistivity measurement of near insulators using Two Probe kit(with software). Hall Effect Kit , kithelysourcemeter etc.

Research & Development

The research areas currently in progress in the Department are: (a)Synthesis of materials in the form of thin films and powder (b) Nano materials (c) Structural characterization (d) Optical characterization  (e) Photoconductivity measurement (f) Luminescence Studies (g) Electrical properties and (h) Medical Physics.

  1. Dr. (Mrs.) Ruby Das has supervised 4 candidates for Ph. D. degree from CSVTU & 1 M.Phil. from CVRU. Out of which 1 Ph.D. & 1 M.Phil. Completed with award & 1 Ph. D. thesis has been submitted.
  2. Dr. Samit Tiwari has supervised 1 candidate for Ph. D. degree from CSVTU and successfully completed with award. Currently 1 candidate is working with him under research project.
  3. Dr. Rajesh Lalwani is guiding 01 candidate who has completed course work.

The Biography of Dr. Ruby Das was selected for the 2012 Edition of Marquis Who's Who in the World!

 

She was nominated by the International Biographical centre, Cambridge, England and American Biographical Institute, 2012 for various international awards.

 

She was nominated as Member in Executive Council, CSV Technical University, Bhilai (C.G.) in 2013.

 

She is working as Chairman , BOS (Applied Physics), CSVTU from 2016

2.

Dr. Samit Tiwari is presently working as Dean, Faculty of Sciences in CSVTU, Bhilai.

 

He is also member of Flying Squad and Board of Studies in CSVTU, Bhilai.

Prof. C.S. Robinson is Member Board of Studies, CSVTU Bhilai.

He also worked as coordinator of STTP on Engineering Physics

 

He is also working as  Student Mentor- Astro club & NPTEL (Physics)

Dr. Rajesh Lalwani was nominated for “Who is Who in the World” in 32nd edition& again in the edition of the year2018. His biography was selected in Asia specific who is who in 2016.

 

He was also Nominated by the International Biographical Center for Top 100 Scientist 2017 & Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

He is also member BOS in CSVTU, Bhilai.

Prof. Prashant Kumar Sahu is working as Member Board of Studies, CSVTU, Bhilai.

He also worked as Coordinator of BITCON on Engineering Physics.

Dr. Raunak Kumar Tamrakar received Best poster presentation award in National conference on luminescence and its application “NCLA” held at PES University, Bengaluru, in 2013.

 

He also got Young scientist award (In Physics) organized by Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, sponsored by Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology in 2014.

 

He got best poster award in 5th International conference on luminescence and Its application (ICLA-2015) held at PES University, Begaluru, in  2015
