Mission: To provide career planning and job seeking assistance and to guide the students of BIT for their better future.

The Institute has a full-fledged Training & Placement Cell headed by Director and backed by a Training & Placement Officer and a Training & Placement Assistant. The Cell is assisted by Student Coordinators forming a team of Training & Placement representatives from various courses of study. The gap between the departments and T&P is managed by teacher’s representatives from each department. The Training & Placement Cell ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting companies' officials. BIT has emerged as a hub in the state for organizing campus interviews of leading companies of the country. TCS has accredited BIT with C* for placement activities.

The Training & Placement Cell provides all technical facilities for Presentations, written test, online test, group discussion and interviews, regarding training & placement. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the College for their successful career placement, which is a crucial interface between the stages of completion of academic program of the students and their entry into the suitable employment. This Cell also coordinates various activities related to the career of the students along with the industrial training.
The T& P Section takes care of the following key activities for the students:

  • Arranging various activities to improve skills of students for competitive examinations
  • Conducting mock sessions to improve their communication skills & interviews skills.
  • Placement of students in the industries to undertake in-plant training of six weeks as applicable.
  • Placement of students in various industries and organizations by arranging campus and off campus interviews.
  • To prepare students for the competitive examinations like GATE, CAT, UPSC, GRE, TOEFL.
  • Arranging Campus Interviews of various organizations for final year students for their recruitments
  • Interface between Industries – Institute interaction.
  • Preparation of database of students of final year
  • Arranging guest lectures of Eminent Personalities from Industry for career counseling
  • Co-ordination for Industrial visits arranged by various departments
  • Co-ordinations with the various departments through T & P for arranging Technical Seminars
  • Arranging Mock Interviews, Written Test & GD for final year students
  • Arranging Summer Training for IV & VI semester students.

Career Information Centre - The Training & Placement Section has an Information Centre for higher studies, job opportunities, practical training etc.

A placement committee headed by the Director Dr. M. K. Kowar and selected student representatives coordinate the placement activities, so that reputed companies visit the campus and recruit students for training as well as subsequent employment. The Training and Placement Cell acts as a link between the students and industrial Houses. The dedication and hard work of the team supplemented by the cooperation and indispensable guidance by the authorities bore productive results.

Training and Placement Procedure Policy
  • The Training & Placement Office sends invitations to the organizations for participation in the campus placements.
  • Participating Organizations reply through e-mail or post to the Training & Placement Department of Bhilai Institute of technology, Durg showing their willingness along with Job Profile, Eligibility Criteria, Selection Process, Salary Package, and Place of Posting.
  • Training & Placement Department allots the dates to the company for their campus visit in consultation with campus hiring team of the company and the suitability of the students to appear.
  • Companies are allotted dates on the bases of: Student’s ranking of the company, Career Prospects, Salary Package or intake. After receiving the confirmation from the company, organization’s placement details are passed on to the students and posted on notice board.
  • Company campus hiring team conducts Pre placement Discussion and On Campus Placement Process.
  • After the completion of the entire selection process on campus, company is required to announce the final list of the selected students that day itself. Company is required to issue offer letter to the selects on the same day or before passing out.
  • Company campus hiring team visits BIT campus at DURG and conducts selection process consisting of all/any of following steps:
    • Reception of the Campus Recruitment Team by the Student Coordinators.
    • Boarding of the team in university guest house.
    • Meeting of Company HR with T&P Officer about the process to be followed.
    • Pre-placement Talk by the company
    • Online/Written test
    • Group Discussion
    • Technical Interview
    • HR Interview
    • Result Declaration
    • Issue of Letter of Intent (LOI) by the company.
    • Notification of finally selected students by the Placement officer.
  • If a student is selected, a job is registered against him/her and he/she would not be allowed to appear for more interviews as per current Student Placement Policy of BIT

Eligibility & Registration

All final year students of BIT  Durg are eligible to participate in the recruitment process for placements through the Training and Placement (T&P) Department.
Criteria:
  • Students must have scored more than 50% to 60% in class X and class XII and 60%  in their final year. (The Criteria depends upon the Company’s requirement)
  • All students eligible for on-campus jobs have to register themselves with T&P.
  • The eligible students are required to fill in the T&P Database available thru BITPORTAL and also upload their photograph in the space provided.
  • It is expected that a student shall NOT add any ambiguous/ wrong /fraudulent /misleading information in his/her resume. Resume checks will continue throughout the placement process. If, on verification, any discrepancies are found, the student would be de-barred from placements. This may also attract strict disciplinary action.
  • Students are NOT allowed to appear in final selection process (test/GD/interview etc) of companies they have not applied to through the T&P system or have not been shortlisted in those companies. Students must refrain from contacting personnel of such companies when they are on-campus. Violation of this will attract deregistration and suitable disciplinary action.
Rules of Withdrawing an Application
  • The student may withdraw his/her application from a company on campus subject to the following rules and regulations:
  • The student can withdraw his/her application to a company ONLY if the last date of application to that particular company is NOT over. There cannot be any withdrawals after this date.
  • The student may withdraw from any or all companies without any limits, but only before the last date of application to company/ies concerned.
General Instructions
  • Students must carry their I-cards at all times during interviews & screening tests. No one will be allowed to enter the test/interview venue without I-card.
  • The date/time/venue of the interviews will be subject to changes which, at times, may be in a short notice. Students must keep themselves well informed by visiting the T&P notice board habitually.
  • Students must carry a complete file with copies of resume, copies of all testimonials and originals of such testimonials while appearing for the interviews and few photographs.
  • At the time of appearing for interviews, students MUST carry copies of the T&P resume only as was submitted to that company online & NO other resume. Discrepancies in resumes are not appreciated by companies and may become a cause for rejection.
